Most of Indonesia’s larger cities face transport-related problems, ranging from reducing role of public transport, high occupancy and growth of private cars, worsening congestion and a growing number of road accidents to sustained noise pollution and high levels of greenhouse gas emissions. These result not only in health risks for residents but also make public spaces essentially unusable for pedestrians. Despite the availability of technical solutions, implementation lacks at different levels.
